Program Information

This exciting program sees students attending the academy every second day on a day one for two blocks.  This specialty Fine Arts course is the equivalent to two full time Fine Arts courses and will give students eight credits for each year of participation towards graduation. Highlights of this course would be student access to working professionals within the Opera and performance community. Students will have unprecedented access to behind the scenes experiences as well as exposure in Vancouver’s performance community through yearly opportunities to perform in shows in the VO’s brand new opera festival (at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and Vancouver Playhouse) starting in May of 2017. Field trips to Richmond’s own Silver City to watch “Live at the Met” will also be apart of the curriculum.  Daily instruction would include three one hour sessions including:  vocal training, theatre training, and rehearsal for select projects.  two-four classes per month would be reserved for field trips and Master classes with elite performers from within the Opera community.   Features of the Program will be based on the model in part provided by the very successful Vancouver Opera Education Programs: Vancouver Opera in Schools (VOIS), Work Experience Program, and the Opera Experience Program:

Students will study:
-Classical singing technique (age appropriate)
-Acting and movement
-Score study
